Doorway to the Future allows users to walk through a virtual doorway that can take them to three distinct VR environments, each representing different futures that could await the Great Barrier Reef. The VR experience aims to evoke empathy, instigate action, and catalyze change in the face of one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time: climate change's toll on coral reefs. The three scenarios presented all take place in the year 2050 and represent different temperature rises compared to pre industrial levels. We are currently sitting at ~1.2 degrees Celsius above pre industrial levels as of 2023. The Scenarios are as follows: We are able to curb temperature rise and limit it to 1.5 degrees Celsius Temperature rise is not properly managed and reaches 2 degrees Celsius Temperature rise accelerates and reaches 4 degrees Celsius
